Don’t Let This Happen To You
Yesterday, while we were performing a gutter clean for a client, I noticed their relatively new roof seemed to be in rough shape for its age. Upon closer inspection, it became apparent that there had been a significant amount of moss on the roof at one point and that another company had used a wire brush to scrub it off. Unfortunately, the damage caused by the wire brush is as bad or worse than the damage the moss was causing.
Unfortunately, we see the results of this unprofessional moss removal all the time. Whether it be companies pressure washing roofs or scrubbing the granules off of the roof, significant damage is being caused. In this case, the replacement cost of the roof would have been in the neighborhood of $12,000. Conservatively, it’s safe to assume this roof will need replacing 5 years ahead of schedule based on a 25-year life span. That works out to $2,400 of value being destroyed by an improperly cleaned roof.
